It's hard to trust the Defense Department to put the public's interest first when it's consistently run by defense contractors, lawyers & consultants for defense contractors, and shadow lobbyists. This administration is no exception. Here's a depressing list that makes the point:
Pelosi’s resistance to banning congressional stock trades is made of the same stuff as Biden’s lack of interest in ethics reform. 2021 was a moment in history when the US needed to respond to Trump’s corruption with sweeping anticorruption reform. Don’t waste THIS moment too!
McCarthy and other GOP leaders discussed plans as recently as this past weekend on campaigning on the idea of limiting stock ownership in Congress.
If GOP take the House,I’m told leaders are aiming to bring stock legislation to the floor
OGE recently issued updated guidance on the pay thresholds that trigger ethics rules. Any executive branch official, including White House special government employees, who make more than $135,468 must file a publicly available financial disclosure report.
If you want to take your mind off our bizarre (and, sadly, not bizarre) times, you can read about how physicists are wondering if there’s a more fundamental level of reality from which time and space emerge.

These are just top appointees and nominees to Senate-confirmed positions. The list doesn't even include presidential appointees and noncareer (politically appointed) senior executives who don't need Senate-confirmation.
As they say, "personnel IS policy." Sigh.
