Kinda meta how U.S. audiences have been heaping praise on South Korean film & TV critiquing SK hypercapitalism without any apparent awareness or reflection of how their country has helped build said hypercapitalism through war, occupation, militarization, structural adjustment

The US invaded to preserve capitalism in SK, then built its industries to supply US military interventions in SEA, prop up Japan as a regional bulwark against communism, and be a forever buyer of US weapons. This is not some essential "Asiatic capital" that exists out of context

@tsengputterman It’s very bizarre that the TV-series adaptation of the 2013 film “Snowpiercer” by then highly celebrated Bong Joon-ho Ji-Moon after the widespread praise for his work as Oscar-winning director/writer of the film “Parasite”. Does it reflect how little they fear people responding?

@tsengputterman @queeralamode A lot of American culture is lying to yourself about your history and reality and then acting condescending when someone points it out.
