To be fair to the guy, he did always say he was going to "lie in front of a bulldozer." And now he has, for forty straight minutes. https://t.co/07mcrTDJDH

'Within minutes of arriving on UK shores, Biden was denouncing Britannia, Boris, Brexit — you name it. Far from hailing the UK, America’s most cherished ally, Biden was showing Britain a bullying disdain' ✍️ Lee Cohen https://t.co/soOGxjAiKh

Just caught up on Bocelli’s Nessun Dorma from last night’s opening ceremony. Right up there with Pit Bull feat Jennifer Lopez (2014) for me. Classic stuff.

Everyone very excited for the euro 2020 matchball delivering toy car? At London 2012, the javelins were fetched by remote control Mini Cooper, which was an especially ingenious/egregious bit of marketing as the Olympics, unlike football, do not have field of play advertising. https://t.co/jEga2Rr4Hy

Why can’t Italy play in blue exactly? Red v blue? Is that so bad? It’s been known to happen before. They all add up to something, in the end, these micro-irritations…

Very keen to read any pieces about the G7 that are of any actual interest to anyone who’s not at it, should anyone happen to spot any.

Matt Hancock saying, in retrospect, the UK should have learnt more from SARS and MURS, especially the latter who managed to lock down Selfridges with one tweet.

Some nurses were wearing bin bags but there was never a shortage of PPE.

Matt Hancock says there were “local challenges” with PPE supply but there was “never a national shortage.” What in nine separate shades of shit is that meant to mean? Maybe they didn’t have any in your hospital but we had enough.

I’ve now read the piece another two times and am truly at a loss as to what all romantics needs the mortar of cynicism to hold themselves up means, apart from all sociopathically selfish arseholes need the mortar of lies to get away with it.

Still very much enjoying this bit from the @tommctague profile. The point I’m trying to get over is that you mustn’t mistake this government for the thing it pretends to be in order to get elected. (And please overlook the thing about the immigrant drowning wave machines) https://t.co/yWLq8agdRu

In today’s news, Johnson says Britain has ‘more oomph, more impetus,’ after Brexit, while his own Brexit minister writes how the supermarket shelves in Belfast are going to run empty because of it. The sheer patheticness of the man and his work in very strongly distilled form.

Apparently Britain, according to Boris Jouhnsom has “more oomph, more impetus” than it did before Brexit. British people have a lower quality of life, fewer possibilities, narrower horizons and lower aspirations. ButJohnson is having a nice time and that’s the main thing. https://t.co/JUim2ELmHj

The “imposition of one side’s rules”? Nothing was “imposed”: UK agreed to the deal freely, it was a great triumph. “Legal purism”? Sticking to the agreed terms. UK is entitled to ask for changes but the idea that the EU “must” agree is legally wrong and deeply unhelpful https://t.co/b07mDs4ndi

Great new weekly column from @DavidGHFrost in the FT, in which he will explain, in turn, all the many reasons why Brexit was very obviously a completely shit idea. https://t.co/qzqiFfxRL1

We’ve all had different pandemics, in our way, but this time last year I didn’t know what a dahlia was and now I have 37 different varieties, all meticulously planted out according to height, colour and style and in about six weeks this should - should - be absolutely epic. https://t.co/F3Gbbu05tL
