The gaslighting e-mail from the institute arrived, right on time ✔️📧 "the RI is safe" Is it? There are multiple known cases on different floors "you've been offered the vaccine" not everyone I live with has "research is essential" is it? it wasn't last March🤷‍♀️

We are NOT all experiencing this pandemic equally - the burden of this pandemic is falling disproportionately on the shoulders of those who are the least protected. Im privileged to be able to make this decision. We need paid sick leave & more supports for essential workers, now

Now is not the time to test the limits of our productivity. I'm done being resilient and productive, I'm prioritizing my health and safety.

Throughout every subsequent, worsening wave of this pandemic, I am told my work is 'essential' & am required to keep going to the lab. If my government won't protect me & my institution won't protect me - I'll do it. I'm not going to the lab. I'm not essential.

Of course, non-essential, essential, indoor congregate working conditions with poor ventillation and abysmal safety measures aren't driving COVID-19 infections in Ontario, so it's definitely gotta be the basketball courts. </sarcasm> #COVID19ON #COVID19ontario

Getting an extra 20 minutes in the day when someone cancels a meeting is like finding a penny on the ground. Not gonna use it for anything but wow am I excited.

6 months post-academic life update: I now have a total of FIVE part-time jobs/side gigs AND it still feels 1000x better than a single day in academia. So, reminder: take care of yourself & never compromise your mental health for a job that doesn’t suit your lifestyle. 1/

@dianalauragzzh @PhDVoice @AcademicChatter Check out this awesome “library” system used by @thoughtsofaphd! Filter-able spreadsheet that you can use to quickly reference authors, theories, etc. Takes a bit of time to set up and maintain, but really helps aggregate findings across all projects :) https://t.co/xK4GwdGrzd

DID YOU KNOW THIS WAS POSSIBLE IN EXCEL? A quick-look inventory of all the papers I've read (with key points!) that can be filtered by author, topic, year, publication type! I learned it from @SteMcQuilliam! If you want to do it too, watch his webinar! https://t.co/St6awrRQiK https://t.co/qEvo8F8icV https://t.co/2azgnuziQN

You know ableism is bad when most of the time disabled people have to be like "hey actually we exist" and people are like "no we weren't talking about you, we were talking about PEOPLE"

Am I going to be productive today? Probably not. Will I finish the tasks I've been procrastinating? No. Will tomorrow be any different? Also, no. 😂

What are some things you accidentally brought home from the lab? There's an antibody in my freezer at home right now. 😂

columbia university––not only one of the wealthiest schools in the country, but also weirdly one of the hungriest to seek bad publicity!––will begin withholding the pay of striking graduate workers starting this week

Why does this always happen during very, very important experiments and not ever when I'm just watching Netflix 😂 https://t.co/dD5uayduBG

As a PhD student, I arrogantly believed that it would never be me who was tired, overwhelmed, or pessimistic about my career, exhausted. I loved science, I'd be fine! Now, having postdoced for 3.5 years, I'm all these things and it's not cause I'm weak, it's the system is fucked
