I really hate the idea that you can look at a TV writer’s CV and tell if they’re “good” or “bad.” James Gunn wrote Scooby Doo. Peyton Reed directed Bring it On. Markus/McFeely wrote Pain & Gain. Previous work doesn’t tell you everything about quality or tone or genre.
not saying every comic writer needs to read every comic ever but idk i feel like if you're going to write an ongoing solo title you need to be very familiar with them bc i'm sick of people who obviously have not touched that character ever making massive decisions abt them.
I am a teacher. But when I create materials for my students, I'm a writer. When I keep a class engaged, I'm an entertainer. When I give them advice for their future, I'm a mentor. That's why teaching is such a great profession: You get to do so many different things!
