I wanted to create a tweet on how to use React Profiler and found a lot of problems with @Twitter frontend. Could somebody explain why - navbar items re-render on every hover or route change? - a lot of components render twice? - create modal open with re-render whole page? 🤯 https://t.co/IUXJZqeHIV

@oliverturner @dan_abramov @acemarke I'm not an expert in react performance or profiling, but if I ran the React Profiler you'd see a ton more work happening in the original case. Totally blew my mind that something that small could have such big effects.

3) Another useful tool is React Profiler. Unlike “Highlight updates” (which highlights components that are rerendering too *often*) it finds what’s slow. Here’s how to use it. 1️⃣ Start the recording → do something → stop the recording. You’ll get a list of all rerenders: https://t.co/HqxjpUAtGE

Having fun with the React Profiler today/last week. Hadn't ever used it before. So far the lesson I'm getting is.... maybe think through your "key" usage a little bit harder to avoid blowing out the DOM all the time. Oops 🤔
