Today we commemorate the Kent State Massacre, where 4 Kent State University students were killed and 9 others were wounded on May 4, 1970 when members of the Ohio National Guard opened fire on a crowd gathered to protest the Vietnam War.
@adam_wola Great parallel Adam. The paradox of repression (where repression by authorities builds more support for protesters) did not work after the massacre at #KentStateMay4 in 1970 in part because of the burning of the ROTC building two nights before.
Anyone who ever served in the military has heard the saying, “We the untrained led by the unqualified to do the unnecessary.” This was tragically true when my Ohio Army National Guard unit went to @KentState 51 years ago.
