eerie & heartbreaking to witness a winter fire season in nyc from california where we’re counting rain drops w august in mind. both our fire seasons are abject failures of privatized infrastructure maintenance & ofc climate change.

The fire was caused by a space heater. Meaning the fire was caused by a landlord. People using space heaters means a. broken windows, or b. landlord illegally withholding heat. This building has 174 violations. Including for heat. Is @NYCMayor going to do something about this?

And the entrance is definitely around back or on the side, away from the normals. To say nothing of what the walkways, doorways, stairs/elevators, restrooms, signage, etc etc etc are like once you get in. All you gotta do is build one ramp and, boom, magic.

bell hooks created the kind of cultural theory that monied media outlets and publishing mergers wish to to render impossible—pop critique that doesn’t deal in empty praise, that refuses to celebrate what should be side eyed we’re all very lucky she spent time here on earth

The entirety of my intellectual and creative project is this: “marginality [is] much more than a site of deprivation; in fact I was saying just the opposite, that it is also the site of radical possibility, a space of resistance.” Indebted, as we all are to bell hooks.
