Oops, I suppose the witches are acutely living in the 19th century actually. Oh well. Come for the witches, stay for Jane Campion’s daughter; several handsome naked men; a lot of gore; and a profound, Orlando-esque journey toward the meaning of it all
YOU WON’T BE ALONE is the best thing I’ve seen at Sundance so far. A strange and moving film about 18th century Macedonian witches that somehow becomes a deep rumination on life—sex, death, love, time, Noomi Rapace—itself. It’s really something. Seek it out!
