Just left a covid funeral in Atlanta. She was 64 and spent a month in hospital. My southern friends, get a vaccine — at least to spare your families who don’t want to lose a spouse, a parent, a sibling, who will have a lasting holiday memory

Rich world supposedly following path of maximum caution on variant — except for sharing vaccines that might have prevented variants altogether. There, caution takes back seat to pharma profits

I’m not happy this morning . I’ve never seen such unprofessional behavior exhibited by a player’s agent.I guess words and promises don’t matter.

There is nothing like the supernatural rapidity of dust accumulation in my tiny NYC apt to convince me that I must be turning into a werewolf in my sleep and spending entire nights fecklessly shedding dander over every inch of habitable space

4/ the push to lift Fed rates could actually exacerbate supply chain problems by tightening credit, which could worsen inflation. (yes, that sounds like Erdogan, but in this weird situation it’s potentially so)

3/ as for labor getting upper hand, yes, lots of bonuses for truck drivers, increased wages for slaughterhouse and fast food workers but no assurance this is permanent. not coming from collective bargaining for most part; basic dynamic between labor and management remains

2/ yes, lots of extra spending on big items like furniture which snarls supply chains, but mostly balanced out by drop in service spending. in plain talk, it’s not that we are buying so much extra stuff; it’s that it’s all come in line great surge, overwhelming transport systems

lots of takes suggesting that inflation is enduring and central banks blew it, failing to factor in powerful stimulus buoying households along with state and local govs. count me skeptical. this is still mostly (with some exceptions) a supply shock, not excess demand

Inflationary pressures should not blur the impact of supply chain disruptions on trade linkages. Trade volumes seem to suggest a bounce-back (top panels). But once we correct for the inflation rate, there is a clear decline in both exports and imports (lower panels). #SupplyChain

Ben Simmons believes the 76ers’ tactics are worsening his mental health instead of supporting him, and want to deem him mentally fit in order to force him to play. Quotes from his agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, and response from team officials:
