I am an appellate lawyer and persnickety dude. As a hobby, I correct typos in the Times, which no longer employs copy editors and consequently has tons of typos

I don't want to get anyone fired during a pandemic, but when one lawyer chilling in his apartment can make the biggest paper in the world delete 5 tweets a day because of dumb typos and grammatical errors, shouldn't that paper hire a less crappy social media team? https://t.co/deLEFKtKoc

@nytimes .@gettleman, the next article you file that doesn't have a sloppy extra space between paragraphs somewhere will be the first you've ever written. Also, you do not have a reporter in your bureau named "andBhadra." https://t.co/uoThRFAqBK

@nytimes Under your style guide, the possessive of Scholz is Scholz's, not Scholz', @meddynyt. No, your two-sibilant rule does not apply; note the l between the ch and z. https://t.co/92UZyIetwH

@MattAndersonNYT "the accounts of survivors, witnesses, relatives, friends, as well as from the objects that were recovered from the ship" is ungrammatical for lack of "and" before "friends" because "as well as" isn't a conjunction; also, objects can't give accounts. cc @EPovoledo https://t.co/pNr8TO3N4T

@MattAndersonNYT @nytimes Did you edit this? So many grammatical errors. First, ungrammatically omitted comma before an appositive modifier; second, the possessive "its" doesn't require an apostrophe after it. It's already possessive enough without it. More to come. cc @EPovoledo https://t.co/vfg8j2aNei

@Lkatzenberg @nytimes @Tmgneff Did you edit this? You're missing an apostrophe after "fighters" in "The Taliban often use mosques as central to their fighters operations." @Lkatzenberg @Tmgneff https://t.co/Q2YgrVHT04

I'm not sure where Bret gets the idea that Andrew Yang is actually good at math. (I'm genuinely not trying to imply what I obviously appear to be implying.) https://t.co/3DkhGh2EQt

"I’m generally sympathetic to Yang because — math!" Bret Stephens tells @gailcollins. "New York got a bailout this year from President Biden’s Covid relief bill, but the city is still going to need a mayor who can balance its books." https://t.co/gQxLQt3KYI

@nytimes This photo caption, "Dr. Geschke left," should have a comma before "left." Right now it means that Geschke did a leaving, not that he's on the left. Thanks for your attention to this, @CadeMetz. https://t.co/xfuUsCovXr

@nytimes As previously noted, @scott_tobias, "Stream in on Netflix" is a typo for "Stream it on Netflix." https://t.co/g3qZQGVXBa

@nytimes So impressed with @jacknicas, his editor, or both for being the only person/persons at the Times who know that objects of "along with" are not subjects and do not count towards verb-noun-agreement. https://t.co/ZdSQ5kvhWw

In the next episode of "@nyttypos polls people on literature," I will post the last paragraph of James's The American Scene and block everyone who answers my poll and says they don't like it

You can tweet common emojis at me, but only because I've put them in my muted words and can't see them. https://t.co/7lplTN193z

With new followers come repetitive reminders that I will block you if you tweet a single solitary gif at me, on account of the vulgarity and grossness of the gif medium https://t.co/Y5Y4JC23sh

If you're a new follower, you have to know that you're not allowed to tweet appreciative gifs at me; I don't like gifs. I don't care if they're "tasteful" gifs, like the one of Orson Welles applauding in Citizen Kane, or cute gifs, like those of puppies; I hate all gifs.

Sometimes I try to make the sender feel guilty for "disrespecting" me by sending me a text with, e.g., a space between the last word of a question and a question mark.

Great question. I usually send four to five texts back correcting the error, explaining how seeing it ruined my day, and threatening to disassociate myself from or break up with the sender unless they stop making typos. This is a largely true and unexaggerated story. https://t.co/0ThBKXanOe

@ntabrizy @nytimes Fun fact: "Lora King . . . was 7-years-old" is a grammatical error. She was 7 years old. You only hyphenate phrases like 7-year-old ("a 7-year-old child"), not ones like "7 years old." https://t.co/mgT3TEBEg5
