Whether this is your first year teaching or your thirty first year teaching - this year may be the most difficult in one’s career. Never has empathy, patience and resilience been more important.

@mraspinall I agree w the empathy & patience part, cuz that’s what we can extend to Ss. Or hope that others extend to us:) but the resilience part isn’t something we extend- it’s what the person needing empathy& patience needs to develop- whole other ballgame

@mraspinall It is very much a year to build kids self-esteem back up. Skills have atrophied and that is normal. Patience and empathy will help Ss build those skills back more quickly.

@mraspinall Well actually, it’s been one of the best. Students are eager to return to learning. They are eager to be around their peers and socialize. They are eager just or be out. But then, I teach in a rural area. This is my 32nd year of teaching.

@mraspinall Treat yourself with love and grace on hard days. Emotionally, we deal with a lot.

@mraspinall Oh you nailed that. I've been teaching 29 years and currently have a pre service teacher. I am tired, exhausted and really need a break. But there is so much he needs to know in order to survive before we go on holidays. Tomorrow, I must go into isolation...
