I want to thank my wonderful editor @EmilyEakin and to acknowledge @PamelaPaulNYT and @dansaltzstein. Emily, Pamela & Dan -- my father once sold the NYT at his newsstand, and my uncle wanted to be a journalist but never got the chance. Their stories & mine are here. Thank you.

@minjinlee11 You are a blessing and masterful storyteller. This picked me up on a day that had been middling at best. Thank you for sharing part of your family’s journey ❤️🙌🏾

@minjinlee11 What a blessing your Uncle John was, and what great use you made of those many years of reading. Can't wait to see the Netflix series!

@minjinlee11 Look at what libraries and reading can do. They can lead you to write something that makes us all come to love your dear Uncle John.❤️🙏

@minjinlee11 This may be the best piece of writing I've seen in the NY Times in years. You (and we) should treasure these memories and ideas.

@minjinlee11 I think there is a rare facet of beauty in a love letter to those who’ve gone before. I feel your uncle’s presence. You fixed it in place for us, and for you and yours. That is not an easy thing to do.
