My article Comradely critique is now out in @PolStudies ! I develop a vision of how to critique not one’s enemies or adversaries but one’s comrades. It’s open access so read and share!

THREAD: Wow the antisemitism in the Labour Party these days is wild. So a Jewish member of Haringey Labour Party, whose parents and grandparents fled Nazi Germany, and whose other relatives were murdered in Auschwitz and Bergen Belsen, was due to give a presentation about Jewish

Holy moly. I don't think I can do this. First words out of Peterson's mouth in the Joe Rogan interview are complete self parody. I can't even dunk on it.

Chinese, Japanese, and South Korean poverty reductions happened through state-owned enterprises, infant industry subsidies, import tariffs, etc., all the things neoliberals hate! And if you exclude China, global poverty rates are relatively stable. Neoliberalism has failed.

Oxfam’s new report rails against a “40-year period of neoliberalism, during which economic policy choices have been purchased by rich, powerful and corrupt elites”. If true, this 40-year conspiracy to steal from the poor must be the biggest fiasco in the history of conspiracies.

If the books for a class are too expensive for you, . Access to knowledge shouldn’t depend on your ability to pay.

Students: If the books for a class are too expensive for you, ask the professor for help! We want you to do the reading and will do anything in our power to make that happen.

Danish tax authorities reach verdict that platform workers at Wolt (Danish equivalent of Uber Eats/Deliveroo) are salaried employees, not self-employed contractors. Huge win for the labour rights and working conditions of precariously employed platform workers!

BrewDog is an anti-worker corporation masquerading as radical. Now another round of intimidation of staff by their boss has come to light. We need to all stop supporting this awful company! And let’s hope their stock market flotation massively flops

County lines and teenage deaths would be *reduced* by decriminalising drugs, which Starmer of course knows, but he's pandering to the worst reactionary law-and-order voters when he refuses to address the horrible effects of drug prohibition on levels of violence and suffering.

A big shout-out to more senior academics like @GPodmalm , @DrAdrianBlau , @sophysteria , @GordonCE who selflessly promote, amplify, and celebrate PhD students and precarious younger colleagues. That's what academia can and should be, so thank you!
