The war on beef is not about the planet. It’s about centralized control of the food supply - to control all of us.

Absolutely outrageous statistics in @matthewstoller's newsletter on consolidation of the beef industry. The blue is beef prices. The red is cattle prices. The gap? Monopoly profits. Even as we pay more for beef, ranchers get paid less for it.

@laralogan Ever wonder why the United Nations is based in the United States and not in a neutral country.

@laralogan The problem is labor. Beef prices are up because there isn’t anyone to process the beef. The ranchers are making less because they can’t sell cattle due to processing labor shortages. It’s classic supply and demand. When do the ranchers start reducing herd sizes?

@laralogan Ya know....I bought a bacon cheeseburger the other night and thought, "holy shitballs, I'm now being controlled." Does someone put "paranoia" in your coffee every morning? Yes, the beef industry is greedy, just like EVERY OTHER INDUSTRY.

@laralogan There is a real issue with our consumption of hamburger. It takes way too much water to grow the food to feed a cow. The water used to produce one pound of beef is 1,847 gallons.. it really is not efficient to use beef if we end up in a severe drought.

@laralogan Monopoly’s, or more politely , vertical integration, exists in poultry and swine industry as well. This has been evident for 25 years minimum, with no pushback, especially from farm state senators. Packing industry in beef , pork, poultry controlled by 3 major processors.
