Like so many folks who felt the Atlanta spa shootings hit close to home, I couldn’t let it go. I didn’t want people to easily forget.
So, I went back. For the past few months, Hyun Jung Grant's sons let me into their lives.
My last story for NYT:
I watched the Park brothers try to recreate their mother’s cooking, get lost in H-Mart, weep at karaoke.
May 4 would’ve been their mother’s 52nd birthday. It was also Eric’s 21st. The sons brought Korean fruitcake and soju to her grave and ate in silence.
