The latest in Hard Time, my series about people serving long prison sentences. "But what is your ultimate goal?" Davis asked. "To send everyone back or to get everyone off — what is your goal? Is your goal to create a successful human? Or is it to punish?"

@johnson_carrie Carrie, THANK YOU for doing this. The escalation of petty parole violations is a massive issue few have covered. The criminal justice system is fundamentally broken — winking at billion dollar frauds and corporate mass killers while hammering the poor. We MUST do better.❤️

@johnson_carrie @nprpolitics My brother got into a fairly minor fracas with someone who was renting him a room. Police report does its best to make it look bad as possible. One minor injury. He has been in jail for more than a quarter of a century. We had to get lies removed from his parole denial.

@johnson_carrie There is nothing more beautiful that the redemption of a human being: our detention-system ought to transform into a criminal JUSTICE system.

@johnson_carrie @NPR Absolutely sucks when citizens are hurt like this by what amounts to bureaucratic incompetence.
