Hey friends. I wanted to share that I’m going thru something here. Due to the way social and other media ecosystems systems are designed, this may be invisible to you, but over the past few days I've become the target of harassment mobilized by right wing media/influencers.

Everybody keeps talking about antibody-escaping variants… Nice work from Andrew Godking is showing how magnitude of T cell response against SARS-CoV2 structural proteins (M,NP and Spike) correlates with protection against COVID-19 more than Ab. Go T cells

Can't we all just be postdocs/openers but get paid like PIs/headliners.

Academic and folk-punk Twitter have the exact same take on success.

Ngl headlining shows kinda sucks. Venue wants you there at like 4pm so you can set all your shit up to sound check then tear it down then set it up again and by the time you play the sound check seems pointless cause it doesn’t sound the same at all.

With the state of covid twitter, saying that vaccines works lead to a pile-on from people who push that they're dangerous and people that push that they're ineffective. Horseshoe theory at work.

Or it's a comparison post-omicron against a highly seropositive group of unvaccinated individuals (effectiveness not efficacy). Point estimate percentages become zombie statistics, and then they just become misleading strings of words.

Every time you trace the claim back to (at best) an out of context statistic that is conditional on infection in a unique population. Usually it's preomicron infection when breakthrough was a better indicator of failure to seroconvert.

It's exhausting to see prominent accounts claim vaccines don't work for the vulnerable or can't reduce the risk of long covid, infection, severe disease/death. None of these things are true.

We focus too often on anti-vaccine misinformation falsely implying high costs (4G, etc..), and not enough on medical misinformation undermining the benefits.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation going around that immunocompromised people don't benefit at all from vaccines or existing COVID therapies. That is *absolutely* false and very dangerous falsehood to spread, as such people might not realize the many options they have.🧵

Kinda wondering how hard it is to adjust ratings if you have to undo 100+ games.

Social scientists will probably need to start planning for the possibility that we lose API access to Twitter.

Does anyone know of a database that would allow me to check whether a periodical is peer reviewed by ISSN?
