A word of advice - get your parents/ grandparents to tell you about their lives before it’s too late. Record their stories. I was just getting to know my father (in a real way) before all of this and I regret not doing that. (You’d think I would have because that’s my job…) https://t.co/DuCGB9MHXc

Not a day goes by that I don't think of Atlanta. Thank you @julianahyekim for revisiting the Park brothers and their community, and for reminding us of the lives of those who must carry on after tragedy. Sorrow takes many shapes. https://t.co/v6M3WmLumK

Thank you to @jialynnyang, @FeliceBelman and @jimdao who let me go back to ATL and believe this work -- of following up -- is important just as much as I do And thank you to @ByMattStevens, @inyoungk, and @corinaknoll whose advice is still on a post-it note taped above my desk

I watched the Park brothers try to recreate their mother’s cooking, get lost in H-Mart, weep at karaoke. May 4 would’ve been their mother’s 52nd birthday. It was also Eric’s 21st. The sons brought Korean fruitcake and soju to her grave and ate in silence.

Like so many folks who felt the Atlanta spa shootings hit close to home, I couldn’t let it go. I didn’t want people to easily forget. So, I went back. For the past few months, Hyun Jung Grant's sons let me into their lives. My last story for NYT: https://t.co/zB4urJ25j8

When Randy was young, a babysitter told him to consider himself Eric’s second “umma,” his substitute mother. Now, it is a role he fills in earnest. @julianahyekim https://t.co/uI72JBKu5K

• Jan 5: Trump's DoJ gets a court order demanding that Google secretly hand over emails of NYT reporters (Google operates The Times email system) • The Times had no idea about the order • Google refused • Jan 20: Biden takes over; the DoJ continued to demand the records
