“The rapist is YOU,” protesters sang to their governments in Bangla, Hindi, Nepali and Urdu, on the streets of Dhaka, Delhi, Kathmandu and Islamabad. Protesters there--and in Colombo, Kabul and Malé--are demanding an end to impunity for sexual violence across South Asia. https://t.co/g7vsBEHdOM

The military junta has erased the advances women have made and taken the country back to its hyper patriarchic past, which includes decades of repression and violence against Myanmar’s ethnic communities. #SaveMyanmar https://t.co/cpZtpyNZ1t

I tell companies who claim to be in favor of #genderequality, one of the quickest ways to jolt sexist attitudes, is to make every secretary/executive assistant/admin you hire, male. https://t.co/VSovZfTHG8

Hey male founders 👋 Have you ever met with a fund and the entire office asks if you are there for the secretary interview?

In storms, one needs a compass. Current dicey & kinetic times call for long-term fundamentals to be sheltered: 5 Special Representatives of #CentralAsia + #EU Special Reps for #Afghanistan & CA issue the following Statement on #AfghanPeaceProcess. @EUSR_CA 🇰🇿 🇰🇬 🇹🇯 🇹🇲 🇺🇿 🇪🇺 https://t.co/0XeLhmm06H

‘Marry your rapist’ laws in 20 countries still allow perpetrators to escape justice Critical UN report says the legislation is ‘deeply wrong’, subjugates women and shifts the burden of guilt on to the victim #VAWG #GBV https://t.co/qp5pAnGNtG

Yes we should be sad. Afghans are starving. Can we agree that we shouldn't have 3/4 of the population going hungry as the UN reports? Given 20 years of fighting we can absolutely help with this problem as a minimum. https://t.co/kDRikzsZcM

I woke up feeling deeply sad for the people of Afghanistan. We promised to help them win freedom and build a better life. We failed. I don't have any better suggestion for what to do at this point. But this is a moment for deep sadness, not self-centered celebration.

.@Max_Fisher goes back to Dec. 2001, when the US essentially refused the surrender of a defeated Taliban, to track the American hubris and the contradictions that got us to Afghanistan’s current bloody mess. https://t.co/LCkSXd8O6t

Afghans need food, not more bullets or bombs The United Nations estimates that three-quarters of all Afghans are food insecure and going hungry. The situation for children under 5 is dire. Almost half are chronically malnourished and need nutritional support.

Really important spending we need to keep Donors should continue their support for programs that increase access to basic health care, especially for women. Cuts in donor funding have already undermined that effort, though, and further cuts will put more lives at risk. https://t.co/LSDQotqi16

Human Rights Watch is calling on the US to mitigate the risks of US military withdrawal from Afghanistan by doing more financially to support women’s rights, particularly provision of education & healthcare. Looks like some money could be found for that... https://t.co/nnpEC6OHCo
