Our times have spawned a new breed of academic, one driven less by intellectual curiosity than by the ambition to meet managerial targets and exercise power, taking every opportunity to display “leadership” through inane speeches and meaningless but burdensome initiatives.

Britain's universities are one of its absolute glories. What other medium-sized country can boast so many of its universities in the world's top 10 or 20 higher education institutions? Politicians and journalists should be proud of this, not knock them all the time.

We’re about to replace a brilliant liar with a rubbish liar & it’s happening because Brexit turned half the country into people with a desperate need to be lied to. Thank goodness everything’s going so well because in other circumstances this would be a major bloody problem.

Struggling to think of a worse development in the history of open/accessible data than the advent and proliferation of PowerBI. Burn it. Burn it all.

3d // No more weird sizes! You can avoid this problem by starting each new plot project with gg_record(). Since your plot is exported as an image at every step of the way, there are no bad surprises at the end. I cannot stress enough how much this hidden gem has helped me! 🙏

@StA_Maths_Stats RE Henri Lebesgue, I think it was @giulianoinpiedi who told me that continuous random variables are more difficult to understand than discrete ones because measure theory is harder to work with than counting.

This is the end of the argument. Ironically, it is the absurd GB News having to endure this masterclass in simply articulated, balanced, fact-based, expertise. If you believe any other version of events, good luck tying your shoelaces this morning.
