I don’t know if I’m being punked but my family in China just told me it’s a choice to get vaccinated in their country and were quite shocked to hear that we need to show proof of vax to participate in society and that we are still under lockdown.

Let me tell you about the time that I broke Covid rules. During the second lockdown, I was working in the vaccination clinics. One afternoon, one of the staff on reception came through and asked if it was OK to book in a woman who had missed her appointment two days before. 1/8

If everyone just got a 4x4 with winter tires I wouldn’t be stuck on the street right now. ;)

It’s hard to picture this now, but mask mandates will be gone at some point. That will be a very big adjustment psychologically, but with vaccines/immunity, we have excellent protection against severe disease. #COVID19

Why in Ontario, are day surgery ORs in community hospitals with no ICU, no ICU nurses, no ICU staff, no ICU doctors closed. Surgerons not working, operating rooms empty. Staff not reassigned. This is a incredible opportunity to help ease burden. @jkwan_md @NightShiftMD @CBCHealth

When @fordnation told us on Jan 3 that schools were moving online to ease the pressure on Ontario hospitals, there were 244 adult COVID-19 patients in ICUs. Sadly, that number has now increased to 563 adults. What's going to happen when schools open tomorrow?

1/ I am proud to be an educator. I don’t claim to be a doctor. There is a lot I don’t know. But I spend my days with our youth and they tell me everything. I have the “on the ground” experience that you won’t find in a textbook. I painfully know the burden they are carrying🧵

The #VaccineMandate for truckers will in fact go into effect on Saturday after it was ‘erroneously’ reversed just a day ago. For a look at the at the impacts on the already fragile #supplychain , Sylvain Charlebois will join #GlobalNewsMorning at 8:10. @FoodProfessor #Truckers

Our Government’s top priority is the health and safety of Canadians. Vaccines are our best tool to end the pandemic. That is why, as of tomorrow, all truckers entering Canada must be vaccinated. See my response to the Conservatives👇

In the context of finite resources... how would you direct your vaccination efforts based on this graph?

@drsandypants @dwbakke So we render our garments to show how much we care about the elderly and frail during covid without actually even acknowledging many of the elderly stuck in hospitals due to systemic failings. Cool

The saddest realization is that we have accepted it is much easier to shut down our entire society than to make meaningful investments in home and long term care.

(1/14) Recently, there’s been much discussion and debate about Ontario’s hospital and health care systems. One thing we should all agree on is that hospitals and the people who work in them have been innovative and resilient, enduring two years of punishing conditions. #onhealth

I'm sure everyone gets this, but here's how "Experts Say" pieces work: journalists talk to a bunch of credentialed people, highlight the ones they agree with (especially in the headline), and bury the ones whose opinions are inconvenient.

To prioritize schools, the province should have brought in more closures to control #Omicron 's spread. Since that has not happened, reopening schools "will exacerbate the situation in hospitals," says our CEO @DorisGrinspun . #onted The story in @RCInet :

I realize it must seem like a hot take when a healthcare provider hears about someone famous in hospital. But unless that info is made public by the patient or their family...please please please don't tweet it. (not just for your career, but also their right to privacy).
