One in four NZ women has an abortion in our lifetimes. Describing a quarter of us, an eighth of all of us, as murderers can not just sit there can it? In so many ways I am very disturbed by this and the utter disregard it shows for both experiences - abortion and actual murder.

@martin_rutegard @bottomdoc @MarkBagnallSurg @ColostomyUK @ColorectalDis Please don’t make assumptions about patients preference regarding LARS. Surprisingly I have spoken to some who suffer from faecal incontinence & still say that it’s better than having a stoma. Others manage severe LARS through irrigation with no problems at all.

To be perfectly honest, our entire postgraduate system needs a shakeup. 4% of PhD graduates from UoA in the last 20 years were Māori (compare: 16% ish in the population). 0.7% Sāmoan. Just twelve graduates in the last 20 years, out of nearly 6,000, were from the Cook Islands.

They’re the workhorses and future of New Zealand’s research system - yet university PhD scholars are continuing to struggle on payments that are below the minimum wage. Now, there’s a call for change

My Mana Motuhake is an oxymoron. Mana Motuhake is collectivism, collective decision making for the greater good of your people. It is about collective responsibility. My, is individuality. My, is democracy and about your individual rights. #ResponsibiltyVsRights
