In March, the Donna Police Department arrested Rivera on DWI and drug charges. The Sheriff's Office fired him less than 24 hours later. https://t.co/gmbjKxw3rL via @ProgressTimes #rgv https://t.co/NUot9MCFSb

It's his third arrest during the past three years. In June 2019, the Palmhurst Police Department charged Rivera with assault on a peace officer. He was no-billed by a grand jury. https://t.co/iNaSXuW2BM

Perhaps most importantly, though, the City Commission uses workshops to discuss items that will appear on the next agenda. If you've ever watched a City Commission meeting where a decision was made without any discussion, chances are they talked about the item at a workshop.

What kinds of things happen at workshops? * Budget discussions (McAllen holds a couple weeks of budget workshops every summer. They're arguably the most important City Commission discussions of the year.) * Redistricting (Commissioners literally drawing their own districts.)

After the pandemic started, McAllen began making the workshops available on Zoom. Before that, though, the only way to find out what happened during a workshop was to show up. Workshops take place at 4 p.m., which makes it difficult for many people to attend.

On Monday, the @CityofMcAllen Commission may discuss whether or not to start broadcasting City Commission workshops. Some of the most important City Commission discussions happen during workshops, which aren't currently broadcast or recorded #rgv https://t.co/Li6IDYD3xU

“The bankruptcy mentality is you pick up the phone and you ask before you sneak down to state court and get a $100 TRO,” Jones said Friday morning. Gotta love when federal judges get pissed off. Lol. There was also this: https://t.co/6Bobcgu9iP https://t.co/dctQ0FawU3

So far, today's hearing on the TRO has been an absolute disaster for Lorena Singh and her attorney, Ruben R. Ramirez of Edinburg. The judge told Ramirez: "The bankruptcy mentality is you pick up the phone and you ask before you sneak down to state court and get a $100 TRO."
