I know an amazing teacher who left a permanent position in a school in Dublin for the same reason. This is going to be the next crisis. I know others who turned down permanent positions in Dublin 2 years ago as they couldn't afford to rent here and things are far worse now.

And yet the advice often given to those who complain about Dublin prices is to move to somewhere more affordable. Well this is the direct result of that. Dublin needs all walks of life and all professions, and they all need somewhere to live.

Got a call from a crèche yesterday saying they have to push out their intake dates by a month minimum as their staff can’t find places to live so have to leave the country

Since such a large chunk of Ires Reit's rent roll comes from HAP, it appears HAP is propping up high rents in Dublin

€2,400/month renting out 1 room in their house. The students get some cereal in the morning and not allowed in the kitchen after 9.30am. This is extortionate and preying on vulnerable students who have nowhere else to go. The greed in this country is sickening.
