I usually try not to give these kinds of tweets oxygen, but this guy honestly fascinates me. What’s his process like? Does he have one of those big signs at his desk that says “3️⃣ Days Since Last Contrarian Take on Topic I’m Unfamiliar With”?

Over 10 percent of the songs in the Beatles' main catalog are covers, which seems like a lot compared to a contemporary rock band ... and yet everyone agrees that the Beatles are a very good and highly successful band, right?

For reasons I cannot explain, both of my children (ages 7 and 3) have become hardcore Waxahatchee stans over the last two years. Like, “Ivy Tripp” replaced the Moana soundtrack in a straight swap. I threaten them with no more ice cream or Waxahatchee when they’re acting up.

Like, "Live Love ASAP" wasn't on streaming until last year. That tape had been ubiquitous. Charted on Billboard. Made ASAP Rocky a star. And so many people were hearing it for the first time. So where does that leave all the mixtape rappers who aren't currently dating Rihanna?

Already starting to see this happening. Huge chunks of music I had on my iTunes back in, like, 2009 is now super difficult to find. The whole mixtape era of hip-hop will be a graveyard of dead links to .rar files and some scattered stuff on YouTube.

The real dark age will be the 2000s and beyond, the era when music was only available digitally and certain formats and platforms just cease to exist. Music that is ubiquitous on streaming services now may be very difficult to find in ten or twenty years.

Trying out a new Zoom interview vibe for 2022: "nervous guy in cowboy shirt gesturing wildly in front of cactus."

I’ve noticed my tweets have been even less popular than usual recently, so here’s a post-groomers shot of Bogart.

Watching Marty & Elayne on a slow night at the Dresden is the thing I miss most about living in Los Feliz. One of those great LA characters who you just assumed would be around forever.

Forgot to mention: the current lowest asking price for the NFT which represents abstract virtual ownership of a pair of black/white Dunks is currently more than 7x higher than the price of a physical pair of those same shoes. I feel like I’m going insane.

Imagine pitching this idea to someone even, like, two years ago. “You pay me for a pair of shoes, I keep the shoes, and instead I send you a picture of the shoes for a small transaction fee. But you do save on shipping costs, since I won’t actually be shipping anything. Deal?”

“So who owns the shoes?” “You do, of course.” “Can I wear them?” “No.”

Very weird to see so many people immediately assume this is a defense of the man, or an attempt at rehabilitation. It very much is not. It’s actually quite devastating.

Wild thread, worth keeping in mind the next time you see someone cite a study that runs contrary to common sense.

The extremely important missing context for this claim is that it is based on a redefinition of “wealthy” from “has a lot of money” to “does not have a lot of money but went to college.” I kid you not. The numbers here are made up in a way that’s so ridiculous it’s almost funny.
