Wondering in a French Immersion context if there is a recommended sequence of instruction for letter-sound learning (similar to Carnine order in English). Help? @StanDehaene @MmeLockhartLDSB @reading_league

I have been waiting for this response and it does not disappoint. “The SVR…has strong empirical support and has achieved an important level of consensus within the field”

Yes! A scope and sequence only tells you when you BEGIN the work on a skill. It takes weeks for many students to master the skill in both reading and spelling. That requires a lot of practice and repetition.

An important reminder that shifts in practice won’t be represented in data right away. Have patience. Celebrate wins. Stay the course. Our students are worth it. #spslearn #scienceofreading

2/🧵 not prioritize academics right away. Please resist that temptation, especially for kids who were in K-2 the last 2 years, especially re: reading. It’s important to understand that SEL & being literate are not in competition w each other. They go hand in hand. Hand. In. Hand.
