A taxi driver just asked me whether I’m a television reporter. I replied that I don’t dress well enough to be on TV. Driver glanced at me in the rear-view mirror. “Yeah,” he replied.

It might be snowing here in a few hours, right as No. 2 Ohio State is visiting No. 5 Michigan. At the moment, it feels like 20 degrees.

"There is little formal study of college turkeys," @MitchKSmith reports, "but on campus after campus, there is widespread agreement that their numbers have exploded in the last decade or so."

The end of college football’s regular season rarely brings out the best in any of us, so when better to consider conflicting opinions and revisionist history than at Thanksgiving?

You could sit in Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday night, look toward the Wasatch Range and see nothing but darkness. Pretty much like the Pac-12's playoff ambitions at this point.

"For the coaching staff, the success of the team has undermined the longstanding stereotype that deafness is something to overcome in football." Love this story by @thomasfullerNYT from Riverside...

"Thought he made a nice subtle adjustment by using FB and changeup away tonight to keep those righties honest," Tom Glavine, who knows something about winning a World Series-clinching Game 6, texted about Max Fried.

In which Brian Snitker winds up speaking for a lot of fans watching the World Series at home: "The games are so long, the days are so long. It’s hard to get to bed at a decent hour."

Great read by ⁦@alanblinder⁩ and ⁦@ByJamesWagner⁩ on the Braves losing the chance to win at home — but does home even matter? Look at where the last seven champions won. (Hint: It wasn’t at home.)

“It’s not over yet!” one of Atlanta’s chronically upbeat stadium announcers shouted after the final out. But, Atlantans knew in the middle of a spectacular autumn night, it could have been. They, in fact, say it should have been.

Talked with Eddie Pérez today and asked what he expected Maddux would throw. “I hope he warms up so he can throw a strike," he said with a grin and a laugh.
