Asked about abortions on federal land, Harris dismisses it, but her followup is even more troubling—she pivots directly to the November election, suggesting that the Biden admin has no plans to act on this issue at all.
moderate filibuster worship reminds me of Lincoln on why he disobeyed Taney striking down his suspension of habeas corpus, “Are all the laws but one to go unexecuted, and the Government itself go to pieces lest that one be violated?”
Insane that Kamala Harris’s office has been shopping her around as the fiercest abortion advocate in the White House and she doesn’t even have a single tangible proposal for restoring Roe. What the hell are they even talking about over there?!
Codifying Roe and/or expanding the Supreme Court is more possible than flipping the Mississippi and Tennessee legislatures. If you don't know this you shouldn't be lecturing people.
If this seems ridiculous, it’s because the Court has put us in the position of needing to do ridiculous things to protect women’s rights—not because these rights are not worth defending.
They want women to be forced to carry the children of their rapists. They want kids to risk their lives every time they enter school. They want those kids to be brainwashed by fake history and state-funded religion. And they are leaving those children to wilt on a dying planet.
I fear that instead of staying laser-focused on Uvalde/Buffalo and Roe, which are winning topics, Democrats will fall into the Republican trap of trying to convince swing voters they are fighting inflation, therefore making inflation the primary issue of this cycle. *facepalm*
Democrats, you have been handed a clear road map to holding the House this November. Channel your base’s rage about Roe and the Republican assault on our rights. Stop getting hung up on this weird “kitchen table issue” kick that clearly isn’t delivering.
New NPR-Marist poll, after 1/6 hearings and SCOTUS striking down Roe:
* Dems lead House ballot by 48-41
* 78% of Dems say ruling made them more likely to vote, 24 points higher than Rs
Only one poll, but potentially suggestive.
