6 months since Russian missiles fell on Kyiv, I returned to Moscow to see what changed. I found that while some are deeply depressed that innocent people are being killed in their name, most say very little has changed, besides higher prices. Some cheer.

As the border crisis continues in Larsi, I am gonna share what I saw in Tbilisi. Every bar, cafe, restaurant is full of Russians. Full… every town and city has Russians, everywhere you drive, you will meet Russians, in remote places included.

As protests against Putin's draft spread, a gunman opened fire in a Siberian recruitment center, wounding an officer, @VALERIEinNYT reports. Putin's system watches all protest & acts quickly to extinguish it, often w blunt force. But can they do that now?

Activist Dima Skurikhin, who painted anti-war messages on the side of his shop, has been arrested. Dima is a very brave, principled man, who wrote “Peace to Ukraine, Freedom to Russia!” in huge letters on the side of his building. We met him in May:

We spent months digging through a 700 gigabyte cache from within Russia's de facto internet intel agency Roskomnadzor. It gave us one of the most complete pictures yet of Putin's efforts to control the internet. It is at turns farcical and terrifying.
