Hi. Christian clergy here. There are no theological or biblical arguments that support religious exemptions for masks or vaccines. In fact we are called to sacrifice to protect the vulnerable. Don't say you'll carry a cross if you won't mask or get a shot.
good god, no, this is a terrible idea. like i know we're all angry at unvaccinated people but a policy like this has horrifying implications for the disabled, the chronically ill, houseless people... and won't actually increase vaccination rates, only create more sick.
BREAKING: Illinois introduces a bill to force unvaccinated residents to pay out of pocket for their hospital treatment if they catch COVID, saying that they “must asume the risk” and “take responsibility” for their carelessness. RT IF YOU THINK THAT YOUR STATE SHOULD DO THE SAME!
Nightly wife update. She's off dialysis and managed to eat applesauce and pudding with assistance. She's getting better sleep with ear plugs and communication boards are a godsend. Doing her speech therapy I did point out she'll never be an opera star. 😅
Just be be clear on something as I'm still awake, this was better than I expected of Omicron. The fact that it still needs the ACE2 receptor and that escape is incomplete means its a tractable problem with the tools we got
Vaccines are excellent at protection against severe illness (their main job). We have interventions that save countless patients although more therapeutics have lagged some. We have antivirals coming online that will help to varying degrees.
@notdred Honestly pretty disappointed and upset with scientists. Two years into this...and we've got vaccines that don't work, no real help for hospitalized patients and essentially no therapeutics. How many years will it take them to solve this?
I've run out of room in my head to process lab values, percentages, and flow rates. But my wife managed to reach for my hand today and silently mouth "Hi." That is progress I can see and feel. It's hope I can literally grasp onto.
Her kidney values have improved so the next step is taking her off dialysis tomorrow. Dietary consults tomorrow. Later this week they want to trial her on lower ECMO flow. Still a long way to go, but so much happening so fast.
Wife has had busy day with speech pathology consult and imaging. They think speech therapy will sort out vocal cord issues. She's got exercises to do. They think she's safe to try soft food tomorrow. They Her had her up in a sling earlier to sit in a chair.
Are you calling yourself a clown? I can only assume you are that given you presume to know about the clinical progression of severe COVID while not providing any data or even anecdotal data...while talking to someone that works with said COVID patients.
Evening adventure in ICU delirium was a literal punch to the face. On the upside her arm strength seems improved. I'm going to give her shit about this when she's better. (She's calmer now. Has had remarkably little agitation considerng).
Dear @POTUS. No. Best protection is through multiple layers of interventions: masking, testing, ventilation, refraining from crowded indoor gatherings. Vaccines alone are not enough and you're acting like they are.
Up at Nicæa, bishops pause –
Arius and Santa Claus!
One claims a time when the Son was not;
One says that’s a heretical thought.
Ho! ho! ho!
Who’s gonna go?
Ho! ho! ho!
Who’s gonna go?
Off with a right hook, good St. Nick;
Down goes the dirty heretic.
I know we need more data. However, I'm genuinely concerned about omicron and the potential to overwhelm already crushed healthcare systems here. Especislly given limited mitigation. Even more worried about countries with lower vaccination rates.
We both know the statistics of longterm Post-ICU syndrome. For now have to focus on the good. PT is working with her and she's making progress. This is hard folks, but we are very lucky too. Thanks for the support again for her and my rambling tweets! 😅
