@TIME in 1829 the govt of Mexico abolished slavery, causing a rebellion in Texas which seceded, fought a war & restored slavery in 1836 . in 1860 an abolitionist govt was elected in the USA, Texas then seceded from the USA, fought a war but was defeated & failed to restore slavery.
