One of my students has been struggling. She’s out in the hall getting space & time.
One of our custodians has been chatting with her for 15 mins or so.
Caring adults in the school are what make a school a community. God bless educational workers!
Today I asked a young teacher about what she’s learned in her first 3 years. She said:
1) Be consistent. Kids need to know what to expect.
2) Set some personal boundaries about work. You can’t think about it all the time.
3) Don’t be afraid to fail. You have to try new things.
I’m glad we honor MLK now… but he wasn’t always honored when he was alive.
At the time of his assassination, King’s disapproval rate was almost 75%.
As leaders, we want to be liked. But I’m glad that wasn’t MLK’s priority. Popularity was not his goal — JUSTICE was.
