A Republican-led bid to recall Gov. @GavinNewsom of California ended in defeat late Tuesday, as Democrats in the nation's most populous blue state closed ranks against a small grass-roots movement that accelerated with the spread of Covid-19.

@ShawnHubler @nytimes @GavinNewsom one must be popular if it only takes $75 Million to stay in office after 2 years of grandeur.

@ShawnHubler @nytimes @GavinNewsom Tough times require tough choices from people who know how to lead, not from phantasmagorical talk show hosts. Newsom made some substantial personal blunders while in office, but he's also led California with strong vision and civic courage. The state's Covid results are proof.

@ShawnHubler @nytimes @GavinNewsom Not grass-roots. Wack framing. It's all part of the big Repub conspiracy to nullify elections they don't win.

@ShawnHubler @nytimes @GavinNewsom C'mon. Why limit it to blue, when it's the nation's most populous state. And, it was less grass-roots than astroturf.

@ShawnHubler @GavinNewsom What the hell part of this process was "grass roots"? I'm assuming it's the same "grass-roots" movement that opposed indoor smoking bans and claim climate change is fake.
