I recently rewatched the original Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm special (avail. on HBO Max). Two details that may be of interest to some: 1) Michael Patrick King appears in it (playing an HBO publicist), 2) Larry's big stand-up show is repeatedly referred to as a "concert."

A great thing to tell people is "I'll get it to you by EOD" because "end of day" could mean the "end of the work day" but it could also mean "before you go to sleep" or "before I go to sleep" or "before you wake up tomorrow" or "by midday tomorrow" or "later this week" or "never"

This latest move is just the period at the end of a very long sentence in which The AV Club went from being my very favorite website to place I no longer have much interest in visiting, let alone talking to.

There are more quotes from RBW in the Time's Up piece, but here's something very validating that I left out

The soul of the AV Club has always been the passionate people who work there, not the logo at the top of the site, and the clear and continuous disregard the company has had for those people is as morally repugnant as it is just real dumb, like from a business standpoint.

yesterday's Vulture feature on Joss Whedon was complex but eviscerating and it's weird that some people seem to think it was a puff piece, or written by Joss himself??? Incredibly well-written, with a kicker that I will be ruminating over for a long time.

More TV thoughts: Starstruck on HBO Max is the best romcom I've seen in years, just a delight the whole way through; How To with John Wilson season two is even better than season one, love the bits of Wilson autobiography that sneak in, quietly revolutionary in TV storytelling;

Caught up with WandaVision so now I finally understand why everyone was talking about "love persevering" a year ago. Good show! Looking forward to catching up with all your Yellowjackets conversations in early 2023.

OLD JOKE: A Nazi officer pulls over to shout at a passing Jew, “You there, who is the enemy of the German people?” The Jew knows the right answer and replies, “The Jews and the bicycle riders.” The Nazi is confused: “Why the bicycle riders?” The Jew responds, “WHY THE JEWS?”

Last week, Leslie’s husband (Judd something?) came to visit and afterward, Lesley locked herself in her dressing room, until Leslie whispered through the door, “Don’t cheapen what we have with jealousy. It is too precious a thing to be rendered so ordinary.” Gotta love actors!
