Pre-pandemic I tried to tell them that all this would come back to bite them. Even offered to help them get ahead of crescendo of rising antivaccine disinformation. Was told I didn’t know what I was talking about or something like that. But it wasn’t a super high level of contact

@PeterHotez If I had a dollar for every time that I warned an organization I worked for/with against narrow, short-term thinking, and was ignored or told it wasn't worth the time/money, 💰💰💰

@PeterHotez Well, it isn't in their business model to do the Right Thing(TM). Facebook is the epitome of greed.

@PeterHotez Nothing is coming back to bite them. Fines, negative image hits, etc., are just their costs of doing business. They're still raking in money and laughing all the way to the bank.

@PeterHotez How much did they spend to come up with a name that REMINDS me of their data collection?

@PeterHotez Years ago my roommate from college (by then an MD/PhD) and I (a lowly PhD) did some consulting work and had to name our "firm" -- we called ourselves "Cassandra Consulting" and nobody understood why, but with the expected results. Some folks don't want to hear it.
