Reasons for this situation complex, among them: US G7 were too enamored with speed/innovation, and made interesting vaccines but ones that won't be scaled globally until 2023. But even without help from the G7 our @TexasChildrens @BCM_TropMed Covid vaccine might soon fill the gap

Less than 10% of African countries are projected to hit the #COVID19 vaccination goal of fully vaccinating 40% of their people by end of year This comes as the Region struggles to meet rising demand for essential vaccination commodities such as syringes

There are: 1.1 billion people in Sub-Saharan Africa 650 million in Latin America 1+ billion in low-income Asian countries, That's 3 billion people, 9 billion vaccine doses. As any engineer will tell you, going from zero to 9 billion for a new technology takes time. Our answer?

@PeterHotez @DoldineR @TexasChildrens @BCM_TropMed I've listened to public health leaders in Africa. Peter is projecting "vaccine dream", while not understating African public health. Africans don't call new viral threats "like the flu", Africans know the north and west won't be providing shots, they mask and NPI up w/o dissent

@PeterHotez @TexasChildrens @BCM_TropMed How does the trial data look? Don’t understand why we haven’t heard more about this.
