TFW you're 3000% done with glam photo shoots and are inwardly planning a new radio frequency system for torpedoes:

Janis Carter appreciation tweet. Her venomous allure makes me think of a Disney fairy tale princess who converted to the dark side.

On this day in 1947, Columbia noir FRAMED opened in theaters. A real joy to watch glamorous viper Janis Carter get her fangs into hapless Glenn Ford!

When I was a little girl, I went through an "I'm going to be a fashion designer" phase. I'd sit listening to the UltraLounge Mondo Exotica album and draw weird outfits. Everything I designed was kind of like what Hedy's wearing there!

The UCLA/Film Noir Foundation restoration of THE ARGYLE SECRETS looks fantastic, and it's currently streaming on the WatchTCM app. A must-see if you dig wild B crime movies!

I can't help but feel like this could be the background for a hilarious rom-com. New Hollywood star is forced to go back to his hometown where he cannot get a moment to spend with the people he cares about because he's being aggressively feted by the locals.

There was even a Miss Repeat Performance contest! Here's the winner, Miss Alice Burgess, with Richard Basehart.

75 years ago today, the unforgettable fantasy noir REPEAT PERFORMANCE had its much-ballyhooed world premiere in Richard Basehart's hometown of Zanesville, Ohio.

Bolton also wrote GRISSLY'S MILLIONS, an enjoyable slice of Gothic mayhem from Republic, all about a squabbling family of small-town eccentrics, a pair of corpses, and an imperiled heiress. Hard to find, but good fun.

BTW if you dig the woman-in-peril-in-a-spooky-manor-by-the-sea vibes of MY NAME IS JULIA ROSS, you should check out THE AMAZING MR. X, also scripted by Muriel Roy Bolton.
