It's been so windy and rainy that Mt. Rainier decided to slip under a blanket and take shelter. One of our meteorologists captured some very impressive lenticular clouds spread all the way over the mountain this morning. Never seen it quite like this before. #wawx

It's not just WA dealing with significant weather Sun/Mon. Check out these 24-hour rainfall totals from the western US reported this morning via CoCoRaHS! Those red dots in CA generally were 4-8 inches of rain, with locally higher totals. Wow! CoCoRaHS:

High Tide is approaching for the inland waters from Port Townsend to the Canadian border. Minor tidal overflow possible due to tidal surge over the next ~3hrs. The threat of flooding/erosion will be particularly high on south-facing shorelines due to wind-driven waves. #wawx

Winds along the coast picked up yesterday morning & have been strong almost continuously for ~24 hrs. Expect winds to remain high for about 12 more hours before they start to subside. This chart below is from Destruction Island, just off the Jefferson County coastline. #wawx

Tidal surge of 2.0-2.5 feet is expected today. This could lead to some minor tidal overflow from roughly Port Townsend/Whidbey Island north to the Canadian Border. Flooding/erosion will be exacerbated by strong winds and waves on south-facing shorelines. #wawx
