Reaching a new chapter always feels like such an event. I'm now on chapter six of my current WIP (17,000 words)!
In chapter 5, I touched on all the beautifully unique manhole covers you can find in Japan, and I just feel like sharing a pic of one.
I saw this in ζ³δΊ (Yanai).
When you ask people to name a book that changed their lives, they almost always name a children's book. And they always remember, with the intensity of a religious experience, the feeling they had when they were reading it. Those books go so deep, they become part of us forever.
I've had an excellent start to the year writing-wise.
One book written and completed in Japanese.
And now we're back to English for a new WIP and already 10,000 words in!
2022 could be the first year I say, 'I wrote two books this year!'
Paint me an absence, a silhouette of rain
When others take shelter, I take on shape
This invisible life in negative space
Shortens the fall that water must make
I've just learned that there's a cafe in Tokyo that you can only go to if you have a manuscript to complete, and they won't let you pay until you reach your writing goal.
Why am I only hearing about this now I'm back home in the UK?!
I am absolutely DEVASTATED.
