“Fiscal conservatism” is nothing more than performative austerity. It’s not about saving money - it’s about appearing to deprive and punish people. I am reminded of this every time I walk by the blank (once living) wall they spent millions to remove to save thousands. #ableg

I should be clear - fiscal conservatism as the UCP do it. We should care about not overspending (like wasting millions on war rooms and inquiries that create no jobs), but cutting in a way that punishes the most people so they can “see it” is a poor strategy. #ableg

@KathleenGanley and perhaps in the removal of Safe Consumption Sites and the needless death of so many as well. . . (agree with you Kathleen however, not "appearing to" deprive and punish" but actually doing so)

@KathleenGanley Fiscal conservatism *could* include raising taxes on the wealthy... It just never does, functionally.

@KathleenGanley Fiscal conservatism is a myth that is rarely practiced by conservatives. Took me quite a few years to catch on. 😖
