No words to describe the loss and gap you have left. We will strive to make you proud and honour you by continuing the fight to free your father and the many other prisoners of conscience in the Gulf.

“I really love my country, so I want to represent it. And I want to see a change.” Tributes have poured in for Alaa al-Siddiq, the prominent UAE activist who died in a fatal car crash in the UK on 19 June. Here’s a closer look at who she was.

🚨 Human rights activist Mohammed al-Rabiah has completed his prison sentence, but remains in detention. His six-and-a-half year sentence included a suspension of two years, meaning that it has now expired. The #Saudi authorities must free him immediately. #الحريه_لمحمد_الربيعة

Biden’s lofty HR rhetoric has dealt a blow to US credibility. Biden can begin to restore it by engaging with Saudi exiles, promoting funding for civil society & stop spoiling the regime with blanket military support. W. ⁦ @aalodah ⁩ ⁦ @JabriMD

👏 Great statement by the Danish Permanent Mission to the UN: "We remain deeply concerned about the human rights situation in Saudi Arabia and reiterate our strong opposition to the death penalty. We also note with concern the continued persecution of civil society activists."

.⁦ @washingtonpost ⁩ calls it like it is - after Biden’s trip to Saudi Arabia, a crackdown on rights makes clear what MBS thinks of US “influence”. Fist bump diplomacy failed.

Did you ask him where Khashoggi’s body is ? Or why he tortured my sister and put my family on a travel ban? Or why Salma Shehab was sentenced to 34 years for tweeting? Or why Abdul Sadhan has been forcibly disappeared for years after MBS infiltrated Twitter with spies ? “Reforms”

. @DeutscheWelle reports about imprisoned #Saudi #HRD Mohammed al-Qahtani, due to be released in November after completing a 10-year sentence. German MP @RainerKellerWES has sponsored al-Qahtani as part of the @Bundestag ’s programme for HRDs at risk.

Extremely distressing footage of state violence against women in a orphanage in Saudi Arabia. I wonder what it will take for those around the world who’ve taken the Saudi leadership’s “women’s empowerment” rhetoric at face value to rethink?

Wow. @washingtonpost just dropped this FIRE regarding #Saudi women’s rights activist Salma alShehab’s outrageous sentencing of 34 years in prison last week. Thank you for refusing to be silent on atrocities happening in #SaudiArabia under MBS. #freesalma
