What a sad, vital 🧵. This is the belief in male “headship” I grew up with. I’m so glad that after high school, I saw through the haze. Unimaginable how many women labor and suffer in silence under the tyranny of this patriarchal delusion.

In 2012, my then-husband said he had some strong words to tell me that would probably affect our marriage. This was a true statement. He told me that I alone was responsible for the break-up of our family because I was not submitting to his "headship."
I was there in 2008 for the (crazy) Palio horse race! Slept on the ground the night before to be sure I had a spot among the teeming masses in the middle. (And because I was, you know, too cheap to pay for a room.)

Due to OCD/anxiety I've had nausea/vomiting, breathing problems, heaviness in chest, and other fun things. So, the next time I hear someone demarcate mental health from physical health...well, I'm not going to do much since I'm already such a wreck. But I can judge them silently.
