In this new annotation at @SensesofCinema, Brian Darr singles out a few key Apichatpong shorts. All three screen tonight in the (OTHER)WORLDY DESIRES (2005-2014) program, 9:10pm at @ACMI. Limited capacity in the cinema, so please aim to arrive early.

The incompetence of SFMOMA's board and staff leadership has been evident for years, but this is a whole new level of WTF. It should go without saying that art museums ***should be about art***, no?!

Something special is happening in Barcelona. It started last month when some parents organized a bike ride to school for just five kids. Now entire neighborhoods are joining. They call it Bicibús – or Bike Bus.

Thanks to everyone for your outpouring of support in this time. If you're interested, here's the amazing letter my sister's husband wrote a few days before leaving on his last ride:

Not everyone is pissed at the #Morethanajacket campaign because it epitomizes SFMOMA trading on the institutional goodwill it had amassed for decades & betraying any core principles besides the almighty dollar. Some folks are pissed because the campaign itself is derivative.

Why is everyone trying to look like Aime Leon Dore? First two images are from an upcoming The North Face digital archive with SFMOMA. The third image is from ALD’s Lookbook. I’m not saying ALD was the first to do this aesthetic, but the comparison is just laughable!

Truly will never stop dogging @SFMOMA for being the sellout institution they are. Feels about time we artists and critics organize a boycott.

If you don't think film/media produce harms, you also can't argue they produce social goods. This is an entirely reasonable stance! But Netflix's PR is often promoting issues and ideas that suggest it is trying to build a better world through the content it produces.

“Last year, we heard similar concerns about ‘365 Days’ and violence against women,” said Sarandos. “While some employees disagree, we have a strong belief that content on screen doesn’t directly translate to real-world harm.”

Historic architecture. Low revenues. Built decades before ADA codes. All reasons given by historic movie theaters to resist disability upgrades. Now, finally, things are changing.

@SFMOMA @thenorthface Absolutely nailed it. Sponcon is EXACTLY what I want to see from a museum that took more than $6 million in PPP loans AND laid off 186 people while cutting three programs valued by locals.

Finally unfollowed SFMOMA and (at long last) YBCA. If either of them ever do something significant to make amends for eagerly hurtling into the most obsequiously corporatist corners of the art world I trust someone out there will let me know. I won’t hold my breath though.

This is why I quit SFMOMA. I used to run the museum's social channels and I would fight FIGHT to not add a corporation's name on any of it. The capitalist museum is embarrassing and doesn't care about "the art of our time" as it claims.

How fitting that the hashtag Northface and their buddies at SFMOMA are using for their new marketing boondoggle is one that was previously used in discussions of Melania Trump’s “I Really Don’t Care Do You” marketing campaign.

Who needs a cutting edge film program, a provocative publication like @Open_Space, and an essential resource like Artists Gallery - all of which, you know, actually pay artists & writers & provide jobs - when you can have a crowdsourced “digital archive” of people in puffy coats?
