Today I placed a tribute in the Garden of Remembrance for the brave men and women of South Staffordshire who heroically fought to defend our way of life and protect our freedoms. Our soldiers will never be forgotten.

We were delighted to meet with local MP @GavinWilliamson at Kinver Edge recently for a walk around this very special part of South Staffordshire. Great to discuss the key part Kinver Edge plays in @nationaltrust's wider work on nature-based solutions to climate change.

It has been a privilege to serve as Education Secretary since 2019. Despite the challenges of the global pandemic, I’m particularly proud of the transformational reforms I’ve led in Post 16 education: in further education colleges, our Skills agenda, apprenticeships and more.

It was inspiring to see pupils returning to class at Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton - the start of a new academic year is always full of hope and excitement and it was great to see everyone back in class enjoying school life.

An exciting week for children and families as schools and colleges start a new year. As we get back to a greater sense of normality we'll continue to help millions of students catch up on learning through a huge expansion of our tutoring programme.

We’re helping recently arrived Afghan refugees get school places for their children, as they rebuild their lives. We are also providing English lessons and specialist teachers for those who need extra support settling in.

It was a pleasure to meet with @TheOKFoundation, @Carra23 & Lord Polak to discuss the important issue of defibrillators in schools. I want schools to have this equipment and look forward to working with The Oliver King Foundation to see how this can be delivered.

Delighted to see students already starting to return to school and college. This academic year let’s get back to a greater sense of normality but continue to keep some of the measures to protect ourselves from Covid.

Welcome back to the pupils and staff in Leicester who have returned to school this week! It is important for students to first take two rapid Covid-19 tests on-site, 3-5 days apart, and then continue to test twice weekly at home.
