The Weeknd has basically shown us that the sad R&B crooner voice works on electronic beats per "Starboy" and Drake follows perfectly with Overdrive and Flight's Booked

He could only do sad, slow songs and trap for so long. A riskier Drake is way more interesting and has been the most interesting he was since "Thank Me Later" which, while not one of his best, has an up-and-comer underestimated, hungrier drake

I'm 9 songs into the album and if this continues I'll be very impressed. So far Drake has decided to go a different route using his voice for upbeat beats. This a VERY smart move as his voice is a good fit for it.
