@andygilday I'm 31. I was in uni until 2013, and working in EU politics until 2017. I only really started paying attention to UK politics when it intersected with my work at the EU level in 2015: I was working on the human rights abuses in Saudi & Bahrain which the UK gov't was facilitating.

Clarification: My initial excitement was based purely on her extremely high competence, and what she's likely to do to the Tories at the dispatch box. Hence the Messi comment. I make no secret of the fact that pre-2015 UK politics holds multiples knowledge gaps for me.

Simply put: If you're constantly complaining about the divisions of Centrism vs Socialism then, whether you accept it or not, you believe Labour should be two different parties, but that only works under a fair voting system. So what have you done to get Labour to support one?

You don't get to complain about Labour having a Shadow Cabinet that's on the 'wrong side of the Left' if you haven't been putting maximum effort into scrapping our two-party electoral system. If you want a specific type of Left-wing party, YOU NEED PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION!

Delighted to have been appointed as Shadow Health & Social Care Secretary. This year the NHS saved my life and staff across health and social care are getting us through the worst pandemic in living memory. Labour created the NHS. We’ll make it fit for the future.

Honoured to be appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Affairs. At a time when Britain is recasting itself on the world stage, I look forward to setting out Labour’s vision for a values-led foreign policy based on cooperation & internationalism

#Succession (SPOILER) It's so uncomfortable watching Kendall constantly trying to play the cool asshole businessman he thinks he's supposed to be, that it's genuinely a relief to see him break down like an actual human.

@petek_78 So many of the comments seem to think disabled people who have the blue badge on their cars so they don't get challenged when they park... are somehow re-enacting the Third Reich. 😬

No @SajidJavid, NOBODY is suggesting that if you hadn't scrapped mask rules, the Omicron Variant wouldn't have got here. People ARE pointing out that if you'd kept mask rules, the NHS would be under less pressure when Omicron arrived so we'd be able to keep more people alive!

@RupertMyers We already have an NHS app. You designate certain conditions, like autism, severe asthma & ptsd as automatic approvals, so a badge is sent to their address as soon as it's requested. As for the ones needing consultation: still less time consuming than someone using a ventilator.

@RupertMyers Anyone not wearing a mask on public transport is either medically exempt, or a pri*k who is willing to break the law and endanger the lives of everyone on the bus. Personally I'd rather people knew I was medically exempt. If you think otherwise, that feels like a 'you' problem.

@Cinnasweetest @schafecast The number of people with conditions that make them unable to wear a mask and which their GP don't ALREADY know about, cannot be more than about 200 across the UK. The idea that 1000s of lives were justifiedly sacrificed to avoid them having one difficult conversation is insane.

There is NO EXCUSE for the Tories not having a formal mask exemption badge system in place as we enter our third year of this pandemic. Without it, nobody can be properly challenged for not wearing one so the rules may as well not exist.

It's about voter intelligence. Despite the majority voting Left-of-Tory in every* election since WW2, Tories have mostly had absolute power. Your argument implies they're not smart enough to see that their votes will keep being meaningless until they support an electoral pact.

@Femi_Sorry If you are advocating for a pact, that's literally treating voters as tradeable and transferrable between the left of Tory parties, which is not the case.
