Hello
#PortfolioDay
! I'm a visdev and story artist and I'll be looking for new opportunities around October. Since I graduated last year I worked as a story artist on an unnanouced feature for Skydance and as a visdev and story artist on TMNT at Nickelodeon
As of now both Gencon and Lightbox Expo have remained firm in their Covid safety requirements, so with some luck I will be at both of those events! Aside from that, fingers crossed I’ll catch you all next year ❤️
Sadly I had to back out of ECCC. 😔 I’m really sad I won’t see everyone there, but with no Covid protections, I can’t take the risk. Even conventions with Covid requirements have felt very risky. I hope cons will be a safer place for chronically ill people — & everyone — in 2023
Finally, it’s extremely important to note that disabled people historically and presently suffer a lack of autonomy over reproductive health and rights, with a LONG history of forced, involuntary sterilization (eugenics). Reproductive autonomy for disabled people is vital.
On top of all of this, disabled ppl have disproportionately limited access to community support.
I’ve unfortunately had the firsthand experience of isolation during this pandemic as a chronically ill person. When we form community & support networks, they have to be accessible.
These risks are even greater for people at the intersection of disability and race, gender, class, sexual orientation, etc. Pregnant disabled people on average have over 2x higher risk for preeclampsia + elevated risks for other birth complications.
Thinking a lot about disabled people today, who are 3 to 8 times more likely to be sexually assaulted than able bodied people — alongside commonly experiencing social isolation and massive barriers to financial stability.
Donate to abortion funds.
Black and Brown folks have been leading Reproductive Justice efforts, and setting up infrastructure, for decades.
Don't reinvent the wheel. Please listen to them, amplify their leadership and give them your money.
If this was about babies, there would be universal healthcare. Free education. Free daycare. Southern states would be doing all they can to drop the Black maternal mortality rate. This is about power and control
