It's now clear Omicron was already circulating in the US weeks ago, before it was identified in South Africa and travel bans were instituted. What's less clear is why the punitive and purposeless travel bans are still in place. Rescind them. And thank the South Africa scientists

1. So clearly #Omicron is spreading at least in some parts of the US given a person from Minnesota seems to hae contracted it in NYC. At a LARGE animรฉ convention. Presumably wasn't a one-off. @DrewQJoseph reports.

@Craig_A_Spencer We've always been behind the curve when it comes to surveillance. Every time, the horse has been well down the road before we even realized the barn door was open.

@Craig_A_Spencer This is easy. Protecting the wealthy's dollars is good for business and better the viruses are found in China and South Africa because they look like bad people even though we dont care about PPE or contact tracing because it's bad for business.

@Craig_A_Spencer To give the appearance that something is being done. It seems actions of substance are old fashioned, since the appearance of action satisfys the masses. It's theater.

@Craig_A_Spencer @KattyKay_ if it has been here for weeks and we aren't experiencing a massive increase in hospitalizations/deaths by now... wouldn't it suggest it's not as horrible as some feel it could be?
