I'm as pro-snow as it gets, but Seward will not be getting 110" of snow in the next 11 days and Whittier will not be getting 178". #akwx @AlaskaWx

Which planet's position and movement is the most important for determining what the weather will be like in the future? Depends on where you live.

A parade of low pressures may dump prodigious snow at elevations above ~1,000' in the extended range along the northern Gulf of Alaska coast. Need to watch to see how low snow levels go. ❄️❄️❄️

Am slightly concerned about a possible 5-mile high wave impacting the Pacific Northwest.

I recomputed La Nina indices using the CPC ONI methodology and have updated the map set of the count of times the second of back-to-back La Nina winters were warmer or wetter than normal (n=16). This is not a forecast for this upcoming La Nina winter.

Hurricane Force Wind Warnings for the southeastern Bering Sea. This is within, but slightly east of the climatological sweet spot.

There are other ways to characterize this, like 99th percentile change, but those are always in whole degree increments and can make for a mottled looking map.

Looks like it's time to repost this map of states with their size scaled to their moose population. 🦌
